Beauty and body image

Hello ghouls!

Today I want to talk about a rather sensitive subject: body image and beauty. First of all I want to tell you that I will try to write from personal experience and will lay out personal opinions hoping it will help someone.
There's this video on youtube, a TED Talk. Everyone should definitely watch it. It has some really good points to think about and act about.

I have my own share of insecurities and they are not only physical but also mental, there still are times when I feel I'm not pretty enough, not smart enough, not good enough. Everybody has these thoughts, no mater how famous, rich, healthy, thin etc.

I'm not going to go into cliches to tell you that image is not important because that's bullshit, image is important but... it's not the most important. If you focus on your education, health and general well being it will give you a lot more satisfaction on the long run.

But the real problem is when you think that image is the most important thing. And it's very easy to fall in this trap because nowadays the social-media (facebook, instagram, tumblr etc.) is focused on image, on photos. It's hard to show who you truly are just trough images. And social media is considered especially by teens to be sometimes more important than real life! That's very dangerous.

Beauty comes from the inside. Now this might be a cliche but it's so true. I've seen this so many times, people that look flawless, amazing style, perfect body everything and then... they open their mouth and stupidity, hate and negativity just washes away that outer beauty and they become the ugliest person in the world. No amount of makeup can mask an ugly heart. I also saw this the other way:  apparently ugly individuals that have amazing personalities that just makes them shine and  you don't care about the way they look.

If you are generally healthy (or at least trying to be) and have a nice personality you are beautiful and you have to believe that because you opinion is the only one that counts. You have to be comfortable in your own skin and do not ask for opinions from others because you are the one living your life.

Very important: Do not compare yourself to anybody else! Do not compare yourself to other people, to movie characters, to cartoon characters, video-game character or to a piece of paper (a4challenge). That's just dumb because you are neither of those things.
Trust me when I say you do not want to look like everybody else, you want to find you own style, your own personality and your own beauty.
And you will find it the moment you stop wanting to be somebody else.

In terms of fashion and makeup what I want to say is that there are just tools to express yourself, they are just like painting or crafting. They should not be tools to hide but tools to show who you are inside.
